Cranford Hall: Book 1 (The Silent Woman)

The Silent Woman by Pelham McMahon
Format: Paperback
Cranford Hall is a fictional sheltered housing complex situated in Lower Peover, East Cheshire.

Each of the six volumes features different characters who play havoc with the warden and her partner, a DCI coming up to retirement, but who resists the idea of a life without work.

As he begins to relate to the old people, he finds that they constantly draw him into their lives, their ups and downs, as well as some more serious troubles.

His caring attitude is demonstrated in this first volume by the trouble he takes over a bullying issue between some of the people who live at the Hall.

But when a skeleton is found in the grounds, it is the old people who in demonstrating their resourcefulness, help him solve the mystery.
