The DCI TeasdaleTrilogy is taken from the DCI Maurice Teasdale records of cases he has dealt with since moving into the Lodge at Cranford Hall, Lower Peover, Cheshire. In THE SILENT WOMAN, in which DCI Teasdale facing the possibility of retirement, he is confronted with the idea of a life without work. As the story develops, he finds he likes his new neighbours, they constantly draw him into their lives, their ups and downs, as well as some more serious troubles. His caring attitude is demonstrated in the first volume by the trouble he takes over a ‘Bullying’ issue between some of the people who live at the Hall as well as a serious investigation when a skeleton is discovered in the Hall's grounds. It introduces several of the on-going characters of the series, who will make themselves useful when external issues intrude upon life at Cranford Hall. The old people demonstrate their resourcefulness and redoubtable characters, as they strive to help or hinder him. In THE ANTIQUITY MAN, the arrival of Laurence Bailey has a dramatic effect upon the residents of Cranford Hall. There were certain aspects of his personality and his business, which greatly disturbed DCI Maurice Teasdale’s peace of mind. Considering the value of the artefacts being stored by Laurence Bailey, his indiscretion is apparent to the DCI, who knows the cunning of the thieves of this world. When trouble strikes, there is help at hand from the residents, all eager and willing to help the police. If this sometimes leads to mayhem, that is part of the story. He tolerates them, because he has come to respect them. The conclusion is typical of what is fast becoming known as the Cranford Hall method. With THE MONEY MAN external events influence one of the Cranford Hall residents, as Teasdale seeks to discover who has murdered a Manchester business man, whose evil influence appears to be streading throughout the North West of England
