MY first real review of Platinum Ten
Thank you to Clare Walker.
Paperback Verified Purchase
Not the sort of book I would normally read, but it draws you in and you want to know what happens to the young people at the centre of the 'story'. It gives a human face to the conflict that we have become inured to through constant coverage in the media. Also gives a voice to the ordinary soldier who has to cope with the horrors of war whilst we at home expect him to be like the knights of old.
Pelham has managed to write a story that will stick in the mind and make you look with fresh eyes at our fighting forces and those who toil so hard to care for them when injured.Clare Walker

WHEN A SOLDIER DOESN'T GIVE UP! Platinum Ten
Lieutenant Guy Williams believing his missing Afghan interpreter is in danger, returns to rescue him. With the help of his American father-in-law and the MI6 Agent, Commander Matt Fleming RN.RTD, their own lives are threatened before his actions lead to a happy ending for the young Ramin and his abused sweetheart Wasima. This novel is the result of hours and hours of u.tube presentations from Afghanistan. Recommend Journeyman pictures, Frontline Medicine and any of the Ben Anderson presentations. http://tinyurl.com/k7ypgpc

The library in my pocket

Thank goodness for Kindle, the library in my pocket. Much as I love the feel, the smell, the look of paper based literature, age has deprived me of the ability to handle large tones easily. A case in point, I recently purchased and read An Intimate War by Mike Martin.  I paid for the hardback version as I believe it to be a marvel of research, a thesis beyond compare, and that it should be available in the library of every university and Military Academy. I am proud to display it upon my own bookshelves. Its only faults, the weight of it upon my arthritic hands and the static size of the font to my increasingly poor eyesight. This is where the Kindle wins everytime.
The among other arguments circulating far and wide these days, are the questions about self publishing and Print on Demand much favoured by Indie Writers such as myself.
Again I say thank goodness for the opportunity such sites as CreateSpace give to us, to be able to have the tools to control and edit our own publication from start to finish is a life affirming experience. Agents and publishers, editors and proofreaders are quaking because we are no longer dependent upon them. I have been set free by CreateSpace's free service and software suitable to my aging abilities. Check out pelhammcmahon.co.uk Also on FB and Twitter

IN PRAISE OF MIKE MARTIN AUTHOR

'An Intimate War' by Mike Martin is an amazing history of the Helmand Conflict. It is an academic gem if you need to understand what has gone on in that Province prior to the current conflict, which has involved our troops, in fighting and sacrifice.
I praise and thank Mike Martin and having read his book I realize how difficult it must have been to research. I recommend his work to all who study warfare and political or cultural issues that differ from our Western principles. It should be in the library at every Western University or Military Academy.
Yes, it is heavy to hold, a big book written from a big heart! Thank you Mike Martin.
